For several years, our Club has been involved with Business Tree Planting Day. Established in 1996, Business Tree Planting Day has grown into Australia’s largest community tree planting and nature care event. The program is a call to action for all Knox businesses to get their hands dirty and give back to their community.
This year, we returned to Ferny Creek Trail, Knoxfield, between Stud Road and Henderson Road. There, at the registration marquee was a large crowd of willing volunteers from all over Knox. First up was a speech from Mayor of Knox, Cr Marcia Timmers-Leitch, followed by Welcome To Country. Then we were ready to get planting. The volunteers were directed to various pre-prepared sections of the Trail, and everyone mucked-in with enthusiasm. Within about 45 minutes, we had planted out every tube we could find and on inquiring for more to do, we were advised they were all out! A saugage sizzle from the Lions Club rounded out the morning. What a fantastic result, and well done to all involved. Thank you Knox City Council for inviting us to participate in this event.
