The Rotary Club of Knox has been helping people in need and supporting the local community since 1980.
Some of the more recent projects and causes where we have made a difference include;
♦ Sponsoring local young people and students through various Rotary Youth Leadership Programs.
♦ Knox Mental Health Forums – 2015 focussed on supporting those who are affected by someone struggling with addiction.
♦ Knox Community Police Car – purchased a vehicle for police to use as a less confrontational way of attending situations such as domestic violence cases.
♦ Regular donations to Knox Infolink – helping those in our community who are in desperate need of assistance with food parcels, toiletries and other material aid.
♦ Swinburne University of Technology Horticultural Department – sponsor of ‘Best Horticultural Student of the Year’
♦ Organiser of the KNOX SHOWnSHINE car meet – the club’s largest fundraising initiative.
♦ Financial support to Kids Undercover – organisation providing service towards youth homelessness.
♦ Sponsor of the Gavin Hickling Perpetual Award – recognising an outstanding student from Bayswater Primary School.
♦ Sponsor of the Knox Innovation & Sustainability Centre (KIOSC) inaugural student of the year award to the top VET Engineering student in 2015.
♦ Financial donation to the Rowville Community Kitchen – supports long term unemployed, disengaged youth, prepared meals for socially disadvantaged in the community.
♦ Financial donation to Harrison Uniting Care – youth homeless services
A strong focus of the club continues around youth based initiatives, from helping those socially disadvantaged and in dire need of support in the community, to others that participate in Rotary Youth Leadership programs that develop skills and knowledge for them to become tomorrow’s leaders.
