In Australia there are over 34,000 members in some 1,200 Rotary clubs across the country made up of men and women of all different ages, cultures and occupations. Rotary is a non-political, non-religious global organisation focused on improving the wellbeing of local and international communities and bringing about world peace and understanding.
Rotary – Making A Difference
The magic of Rotary is that it brings people together to achieve extraordinary things all over the world. Rotarians unite the power of one with the power of many to bring exceptional change in the world. There’s no better example than the Polio Plus Program which is close to eradicating Polio altogether.
In 1985 when Rotary started raising money to eradicate Polio, there were over 350,000 cases in 125 countries recorded annually. Working with major organisations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as well as governments throughout the world, Rotary has helped reduce the number to a mere handful of cases in 2016 and is on the verge of finishing off Polio for good.
With over $800 Million contributed and more than 2.5 billion children immunised worldwide, the volunteer efforts of everyday people through Rotary have changed the world as we know it.
There’s many ways where you can help to make difference in the lives of others.
